Transforming Windows XP into Windows Vista’s Start bar.
Windows Vista is the operating system that succeeded Windows XP. Of course, it goes without saying that Windows Vista is more powerful than its predecessor. Unfortunately, not everyone can use Vista. It has higher system requirements which means older or less powerful computers cannot be upgraded to Vista. Luckily, there are programs available that allow XP users to transform their operating system to look like a Vista operating system. The change does not alter the performance of the computer, needless to say. All it does is change the appearance of the computer. It doesn’t change its speed or power or the functionality of programs such as word processors or computer virus removal programs. This doesn’t really add anything to the computer except for aesthetic appeal, and yet, many users available of these programs.
One of the similar programs that can add something more than aesthetic appeal into the package is if you change your XP start bar into a Vista start bar. Again, it’s not as necessary as a good computer virus removal program, but it is a great additional tool or your computer. This is because when you change your start bar from XP to Vista, you will also change its functionality. Those who have used the Vista operating system will agree that there is a huge difference between the two start bars, and having a Vista start bar for your Windows XP can add some functionality in your computer.
One of the huge differences you can see between the XP and Vista operating systems is the search menu. In the Vista start bar, you can access the search menu easily as it is beside the start bar. In previous operating systems, you need to go to a different icon to access it. In any case, the search bar allows users to find programs and files easily without having to navigate through various folders. This will save you a lot of time, needless to say.
The Vista start bar also shows the programs automatically as soon as you click the start icon. It’s a very minor change, but it, at the very least, saves you a click to access this important start bar root. This start bar version also allows for easy customization and managing. Another major change is the ability to change the location and the size of the start menu. If, in the XP version, the Start menu is a little unwieldy, the Vista version allows you to drag the menu anywhere you want.
Expectedly, the change has some downsides. Since it is only an imitation rather than the actual thing, the search bar is slow—but not too slow that it will alter your computer usage significantly.
All in all, the Vista start bar can be a great addition to your XP operating system, but not an essential one. Programs such as the computer virus removal or updates in specs are essential; start bar add-ons are not. But just the same, it’s not a bad thing to have.
