The Dangers Of Using Registry Cleaners

Hi everybody today we are going to talk about the dangers of using registry cleaners. If you do an online search, you will find hundreds of products that claim to speed up your computer. In almost every case all the product does is clean old registry data from your main registry hive. In the coming paragraphs, I will explain why this can be a very dangerous practice.

When your computer runs slow, the first thing you are probably going to do is do an online search for a fix all utility that promises you the world. Some even have a money back guarantee (good luck with that). These utilities have one thing in common; they scan your registry and look for errors. Some will tell you have as many as a hundred errors or more. That is enough to scare most people into converting their free trial to the full paid version. First let me say that every computer is going to show errors when a registry scan is done by one of these utilities. Most of these errors are quite harmless and will do little to slow down your system. In fact, many registry cleaners will do great harm to your system by sometimes removing entries that are needed for Windows to start for some programs to run. I have seen many a computer fried from running a registry scan. This is not the answer for a slow computer.

Let me explain why the registry is so important to your system. Think of the registry as your heart. This is the core that allows all the operations on your computer to work. If a registry entry is missing or corrupt, the function that is associated with that entry will not work. If a registry cleaner mistakenly removes an entry needed for an important Windows process, your computer will fail to boot. Sometimes we can recover systems in this state and sometimes a reformat is in order.

If you are having a slow computer issue, do yourself a favor and have a professional technician do the job for you. We know what to look for and how to diagnose problems with problem software. In the long run, you will be a much happier camper with a faster computer.

Registry utilities will often also have built in cleaners to help keep your temporary files at bay. This is usually a safe operation with most of the better-known programs. They are also ram boosters built into many of these utilities. For most systems, this will do little to speed up your system. In fact even if there is a slight speed increase, the very fact that the program has to work in the background will cancel out any benefits that were obtained from the program.

In short, be wary of any background utilities and simply get a professional clean up on your system at least once a year at minimum.
