While many of use grew up without the technology we have today and seemed to manage just fine, we would not want to go back to that lifestyle. We have grown accustomed to convenience and computers, handhelds, cell phones and the internet has certainly delivered.
Communication
One of the largest things that have changed in our daily lives due to the new technologies that surround us is the way we communicate with each other. We have become much more connected to an even larger group of people due to the technology in our lives.
The internet offers us the ability to communicate through social networks, forums, blogs, e-mail, video chat and text messaging online. With social networks we can create a circle of family and friends that when we send a status update, upload a picture or share a joke they will all receive it and can respond instantly.
We no longer rely on snail mail to deliver messages and if we want to contact someone we can do it instantly either online or through the cell phones we all carry. There is no reason to look for a pay phone, if they even exist if you are away from your lan line at home. Everyone carries a cell phone and have become completely reliant upon them. So, you can send a text or make a call from anywhere and chances are the recipient will have their phone on them and can respond immediately.
Business
The way we do business has changed dramatically through the new technologies. Those who are looking for a business can find products, services and offline locations with a few clicks of their mouse. The internet provides reviews, customer feedbacks and details specs on any item you are interested in and offers comparisons for pricing and quality from the comfort of your own home. You no longer have to run around town looking for the items or services you need and spend countless hours comparing the prices and the quality, let the internet do it for you.
Business owners understand that many of us are turning to the internet for our needs and have changed the way they interact with customers as well as how they advertise. Social networks have become a huge part of any businesses advertising and marketing campaign and internet marketing has begun to take over the offline marketing tactics that were recently used. Online marketing has proven to be more effective as well as more economical than offline marketing so of course businesses are taking advantage of that.
Even offline businesses are creating an online presence due to the extreme importance it has on their sales. Without an online presence most businesses will lose the potential for millions of dollars in sales each year.
