In today’s world, the use of your Smart Phone is as much a part of your life as eating breakfast. We carry the devices wherever we go. We use them while walking, at the gym, doing
yard work, shopping and sometimes even while taking a bath. With all this abuse, it is almost certain that at some point in time your phone is going to get damaged.
This could happen from water or perhaps dropping your phone on the concrete while making an important phone call or checking Face Book. If your phone is not protected, damage is almost sure to result after that nasty fall on the concrete. Fortunately, there are things you can do to help minimize the damage from these incidents.
As a heavy phone user, I have been through my share of phones and several of them were trashed from simply dropping them on a hard surface. I have always tried using different brands and types of phone cases but most of them only offered minimal protection at best. In addition, many of them hindered some of the usability of the phone. After testing all brands and models of phone cases, I finally found the perfect match.
Personally, I am an I Phone fan so the case I am describing is for an I Phone 4. Otterbox makes the case I am referring to in this article. The case lives up to it’s name by the extreme protection it offers your phone. I am using the Otter Box Defender phone case. This case is like a coat of amour! It is a little confusing to assemble at first but after looking at it for a bit and following the directions, it will all fall into place. The outer shell that protects your phone is made of high impact polycarbonate. This shell wraps completely around your phone and offers excellent drop protection.
The case has a built in screen protector that not only protects against scratches but also helps to keep stray water drops from entering your phone. The covering is completely clear and does not interfere with either the operation of the touch screen or the way the screen looks.
Rugged flaps secure and cover all the ports of your phone. This case offers excellent protection from dust and stay water droplets from rain but it does not make the phone waterproof. The case simply offers some protection from random moisture.
If you really want to get technical, Otter Box now offers a case with Ion Intelligence. Essentially, this is a case with a hidden spare battery pack. The case offers the same great protection with an added bonus. You can then go to the I Tunes store and download the free ion intelligence app and install it. The app works with the extra power included in your case. When the app senses your battery is getting low, it will immediately begin to charge the phone. The battery pack can double the life of your existing battery!
In addition to the Defender series, they also have the Armor series of cases that make your phone totally waterproof! You can submerge your phone in water up to 6 feet deep for 30 minutes. This is a great option if you do a lot of water sports.
All in all, these cases are the best I have ever used and I highly recommend them to anybody who wants to protect their phone. They are not always the cheapest in price but remember, youu always get what you pay for.
