I think one of the biggest complaints about Windows 8 is the difficulty it poses with trying to navigate the operating system. That is probably the biggest complaint, besides it being too slow. One way to get around that navigation issue is with the use of hotkeys.
Hotkeys have been around for a long time, in fact ever since the first flavor of Windows was introduced. They make many tasks simple by just using a predetermined key sequence to activate the task.
For example, in most versions of Windows if you touch and hold the Windows key and then tap R, a run dialog box will appear where you can then manually enter a task you want to perform.
Windows 8 has a set of button sequences that are unique to this version of Windows. For example, a quick way to switch between the Desktop and the App screen is to toggle the Windows key on your keyboard. This is the easiest way I know to achieve this task. If you press the Windows key plus E, the Windows Explorer window will open.
Another quick shortcut to open items on your task manager is to use the Windows key plus the corresponding icon number where 1 is at the left and each icon to the right is one number higher. For example, it I want to open Internet explorer and it is the second icon to the right. I will now hit the Windows key plus the number 2 and IE will now automatically open.
Of course, there are many more shortcuts that are just too numerous to mention. Watch this video and I am sure that even if you are an expert, you will find a shortcut or two you did not know about.
