Magic Jack Reigns As The Most Affordable VOIP Solution

You see it advertised everywhere. Phone service for 29.99 a year with no contracts. That comes out to less then 3 dollars a month! Many folks will look at the ad in disbelief mj-plusand think it is a scam or that most likely it does not work. The truth is, it is not a scam and it works like a charm. I know. I have been a Magic Jack user for many years and the service has improved drastically over time.

I sill remember when I received my very first Magic Jack in the mail. I wondered in amazement how this small device was going to plug into my computer and allow me to make calls. Remember that the very first device was only designed to use your computer. If you wanted to receive calls 24/7, you had to keep your computer running all the time. In addition, if you used your computer for other tasks it would often interfere with your work. The solution was a separate computer that did nothing but power Magic Jack.

When I first plugged in the device, the setup went flawless and in no time I was registered and making and receiving a call. There were some issues with call quality when the product was first rolled out. Voice quality often stuttered and parts of a conversation were sometimes missed. The quality seemed to have a lot to do on where you might be calling. Over time, more carriers were added and things improved dramatically.

Using the product on a computer had a lot of pluses since you could record your call history right on your computer screen and your computer also acted as a caller ID. If you did not have a phone to plug into the Magic Jack you could use your computer microphone and speaker to do all the talking. This set up worked great for many years. Then, the company came out with an entire new concept called Magic jack Plus. This new device changed the VOIP industry by offering really inexpensive phone service without having to use a computer.

When this product was introduced, I immediately took full advantage of the new technology. I immediately purchased the new product at Radio Shack and brought it home for testing. I was so happy at the thought of not having to run a computer in order to receive my calls.

The set up of the new device was simple. To initially register the unit, you first connect it to your computer and either sync it with your current account or if you are a new user, register it with your chosen phone number. Since I already had an account, I simply added the device and then removed the Magic Jack and plugged it into my router. The moment of truth was here…. was this amazingly inexpensive device going to work. The test call went through without a hitch. The call quality was good and I was running the device with no computer. Now I had one less electronic toy to run.

Now, you can even get a free app for your I Phone where you can receive and make calls from your account using your smart phone. In fact, you can make free calls from the phone app even if you do not have a voice plan. Without a voice plan, you cannot receive calls since you will not have a permanent phone number.

I still some folks believe that this device is a scam and is way too inexpensive to actually work. I will be the first to say that it works flawless. I use it to make calls all the US and to Canada. If you know somebody that is overseas, you can make free calls as long as the other person is also using a Magic Jack.

Magic jack can be configured to use the 911 services by using the options in your account. This would be advised if you were using the device as replacement for your home phone. If you using it as an additional phone line, your landline should be your normal first choice if making a call to 911.

In short, if you were thinking about trying this little gismo, they give you a money back guarantee. They even allow you to port your existing landline number to the device so you do not have to notify all your friends.
